ghostly image in a smoke

hi,
i am reaaaally new to photoshop. online i found how to make a ghost of an image and on another website i found how to create smoke effect. yet i dont know how to combine the two where the image of the person looks like appearing out of smoke (sort of like aladdin's genie effect). can anyone help?

Since I don't know the techniques you mention its hard to say. The attached example is not a great job (IMHO), but it may be as simple as taking the two techniques on their own layers and then playing with the opacity and blending (which is pretty much what they did here).
