Hi Guy's,

My first time here and I've donned my flak jacket cos I know I'm going to be shot at!

I have run CS3 for a few month's now and thought I would expand things with some down loads from Dr. Brown as it is portrayed on the Photoshop CD.

My question is ........ how in the name of all things holy is this acheived???

I am about to explode with exasperation.........I have had every error message under the sun, corrupted files when I unzip them, I,ve been down every blind alley on the net and through two destructive recoveries, YES TWO!

Can somebody please tell this idiot what it is that he can't see that's under his foot.

Cheers........Wavejunkie

Well, you need to be a little more descriptive... did you get the Podcasts? Quicktime video? PDF files? And what operating system are your using?

Hi,
The file shipped as a "zipped" file and i am not advised as to what programme I need to open it though my system implies it opens with "windows explorer" and I am running "vista" as my operating system.

If I do "just" open the file it gives me the option (as Russell Brown says) to "double click" (java script file) to simply install.

One of two things happens........... and it's random!

Either CS3 opens and nothing else occurs no matter how long you wait or a dialog box opens with Russell Brown displayed in caricature prompting you to download which turns into a series of (20 maybe) failed downloads, some say "corrupted file" followed by CS3 shutting down.

At the moment if I try to download, it opens CS3 and CS3 just stares back at me.

I have also checked the programme in operation and no the scripts hav'nt loaded behind my back.

Thanks for contacting the now nearly completely mad ........ wavejunkie

The file is zipped.

That means it's compressed and won't open in ANY program until its been unzipped... go to your favorite freeware/shareware download site and download any of the hundreds of "Unzip" programs and decompress it. Once done, it will open as its native file.

(c|net and Tucows both have robust download sites where the shareware programs are actually rated, so download one of the better rated programs. I have Stuffit Deluxe, which also unzipps zip files. All I have to do is double-click it.)

I'm surprised to find a Windows user unfamiliar with Zip files. It started on Windows and for years shipped with the operating system. Maybe it no longer comes with Vista.

Should'ov gotten a Mac.

:D

H Fred,

Sorry to disapoint you but I do know about zipped or compressed files and yes vista has a programme to "extract" the contents of a zipped file.

You right click on the file in question and the extract option is in the drop down menu.

Having unzipped the file and extracted the contents one of the files is the "double click to install" java script file (as I said!) if you double click it cs3 opens and every file is automatically a failed download.

My question still remains...... can anyone out there tell me why?

Thanks for the advice Fred but I,ve got a mac already it's made by "Gant" and it works great in the rain!
