problem with using text

i need help to use text. in my previous computer i used to use text. since i installed photoshop cs3 on my new computer i have a problem. when i try to add any text i get a message
"Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized"

i've tried already everything i could. i still have this problem.

could you help me please?

Sounds to me like you installation was incomplete. Remove PS and try installing again.

I know about this problem, it can be several different solutions to this problem.

Solution 1: Move all fonts that were created when you installed cs3, look at the date in the fonts folder and move them to a temp folder of your own choice. If that works then you can put the fonts back one at a time to figure out the font causing the problem.

Solution 2: Photoshop requires 1.83Gb ram. If you have less the program would still work but you could get error messages when you try to use type tool, filters and other tools within the program.
