I wish to convert .TIF files to .GIF in order to make animated GIFs in Image Ready. When I convert, the GIF becomes an (Index) making it impossible to drag and drop. I can select the image, with marquee tool, and drag it, but size discrepancies make my layers just slightly misSized so the animation wobbles.

How do I remove this Index property, so I can just drag the picture simply?

Hi Spacekat,
"Indexed" images do not support layers. To enable editing a GIF in "regular" way, you have to convert it to RGB mode (Image > Mode > RGB Color).

Or - BETTER - edit original TIF (in RGB mode) and then use "Save for Web" to save its GIF copy.
