Raising Voices is a small non-profit organization working to prevent violence against women and chlidren in East and Southern Africa. We are seeking a creative, experienced, skilled and totally committed graphic designer for a field-based internship of at least 5 months (August December 2007). We are looking for someone obsessed with design, who wants to use their design skills for social justice and, who has a high level of technical skill and experience. We have two rather complex projects that need an experienced print designer.
Responsibilities include designing:
new Activist Kit on violence against women and HIV/AIDS
new toolkit on how to create safer schools
posters and other communication materials on violence prevention
activist calendar on violence against women
exhibition of photographs and case studies on violence against women and children
organizational materials (info sheet, brochure, pamphlet)
Experience/Qualities:
Must have at least 3 years in on-the-job experience of design for print materials
Expertise in relevant design packages (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Skilled at layout
Willing to work creatively within Raising Voices existing style
Experience in designing a variety of communication materials and publications
Results oriented
Interest in women and childrens rights
Ability to work in team environment
Committed, motivated, hard working, detail oriented
Web skills a plus!
