ok, here goes...

I was working in photoshop and my computer froze (as it often does because I'm low on RAM). After re-starting my computer I attempted to go into the folder where the file was and when I clicked on the folder my computer screen flashed and wouldnt open the folder. I found this extremely strange, as I'm pretty computer-saavy and have never seen that before.

I managed to move the file in question out of the folder and onto the desktop, which turned out to be HUGE mistake, as now my entire desktop & start menu flashed, and now wont appear at all, even after I've restarted numerous times.

Basically the photoshop file must be massively corrupted and I need to delete it, but I'm unable to, as each time I restart Windows only appears for literally a second (not long enough for me to delete the file). I tried accessing the desktop through a drop-down menu in Windows Task Manager as well, and again, it wont only give me access to the Desktop for a second at the most before flashing and disappearing.

I realize the obvious answer is that I have a virus but I have the latest version of AVG and it's not picking up anything.

So um...HELP! any ideas??

thanks in advance.

I admit I'm not a Windows pro...so take this with a grain of salt but can you start the computer in safe mode? Or boot from a CD? I've never encountered this problem on a Mac or PC but if it won't even boot in Windows for more than a second without crashing that is the only thing I can think of.

Jeff,

if you are low on ram, first get something to help you take EVERYTHING out of your startup. www.windowsstartup.com. this can assist you in freeing up ram to work a little smoother until you can aquire more.

second, if your using XP, why not just do a system restore? this will restore you to a day or two before this happened.

third... also try using a registry cleaner. i found abexo free registry cleaner to work well.

i hope this helps u.
