Default Need to do Torn/Ripped Metal Effect

I can't find a tutorial anywhere or even a stock photo. Can anyone help with ideas on how to accomplish this look?

A great example would be like the one used for the X-Men movie promo posters, like here.

Thanks in advance.

I realize that this is an airbrush tutorial, but really, alot of his techniques can be incorporated into photoshop. This guys work is really tight - better than anything else I've seen posted, here or elsewhere. If you've got a good eye on how to break it down, you'll be able to recreate it.
