Do I need an SSL certificate for a website that allows people to make donations over
It is technically a foundation, a non profit organization website, which will allow people to make donations for the cause. Is purchasing an SSL certificate for this site a good idea?
If i have to purchase then which one is better for such a site?

Rather than going through the programming and development woes for an SSL, not to mention the cost, I recommend setting up with PayPal to accespt donations. Amazon also has a similar program for donations -- or you should consider both.

Yes. You should get a certificate for such a website. Either way you can go for the paypal option. But even paypal recommends to get an ssl certificate. You can get some cheap and reliable certs at www.rapidsslonline.com |

As per my point of view the more customers trust you, the more they donate. SSL certificates helps to increase security for data transmitted over networks. And it builds trust amongst the users of your site..

This is a certificate that is installed on a secure server. It is used to identify merchants to use it and to encrypt the credit card, and other time-sensitive data.The only need one SSL is when you are making a secure area on your site that would be private or confidential information, or to accept payments where the end user is entering information on your website and your website is responsible for the transaction.
