Default Please help me replace a roof

Buying a new roof for my home and having difficulty visualizing the correct color. I am in the process of taking photos of other houses with the 2 roof colors that I have narrowed down to. I am trying to cut portions of these 2 roofs from photos to replace the roof area on photos of my home to better visual what the finished product would look like. Can you advise on how to accomplish this. Using Windows XP and PS Elements 6, but will obtain whatever software is necessary. Would the magnetic lasso do this? Is there a better way? Thank you in advance.

Get Photoshop CS 3 and LEARN how to use the pen tool to do this (Cut the roof out). A very good tutorial on how to use the pen tool is at the link below. The Lasso tool is useless when it comes to the fine stuff like what you are wanting to achieve. You can always stop and save what you are working on with the pen tool then come back to it at a later time.

Have fun and good luck! ALL of these video's are free to download and to watch on this site btw. :-)

Better yet, take a good photo of your own house; make a selection of the roof and then replace the color using the "Replace color" tool. You can sample the color from photos of other houses or even from online images of color roofs you like.
