I am definitely a novice to Photoshop. I actually cut my teeth on this map.
http://www.unicoisprings.com/grid_zoom_1a.htm I use Photoshop 6 on Windows XP. I want to change the mottled grey areas to a pleasing olive color to represent grass. Is there a simple way to do this without lassoing and/or manually painting around all the little cut ins and text. As I am typing this, I am wondering about removing the background and placing the map over a new green background. If that worked, I'll let you know. Thanks for your help! christine |

Thats a rather simple tool in both photoshop, gimp and photo paint where you select a color from the image, then select a second color to change it to, with a range + or – you can set, then just use the selective erase tool and swipe it over your image.

You could try using Select/Color Range, but this is a very monotone image with a limited value range. It may take some playing with the settings to get what you want. Once you have the selcetion you want you can use an adjustment layer to add the new color.
